An E-visa is a type of official online document that allows a traveller to enter the host country without any issues. E-visas are linked with the passport of the individual. You can apply for an E-visa through the online method and fill out the form in less than 10 minutes. Once the payment is made and the form is approved you will receive your E-visa in your Email. The E-visa is the most hassle-free method to procure your Visa as you don’t have to visit the embassy for your visa. In India 25 International airports and 5 seaports accept the arrival of a visitor with an E-visa and the visitor can exit India through any authorized Immigration Check post in India.
These are some of the differences between E-visa and other types of visas
E-visa V/s ETA
E-visa is a visa that can be acquired easily by applying through online portals and gives an individual permission to go to the host country and travel there for a limited period. Whereas ETA or Electronic Travel Authorization is not a visa but a type of authorization required before travelling which can be provided to the countries with Visa waiver program (VWP) agreements.
E-visa V/s Visa on Arrival
E-visa is processed before travelling through online mediums and is linked to the passport of an individual. Whereas Visa on Arrival can be applied only when they land in their destination country after travelling. Obtaining a Visa on Arrival is very hectic as they may have to stand in a long queue and sometimes they may even get their access denied due to lack of documents or due to their nationality (India Visa).
E-visa V/s Paper visa
E-visa can be applied for through online portals and can be received at the registered E-mail address within a few days. Whereas a Paper visa is a tiring bureaucratic process that takes a long time and you may even have to come for a visa interview.
