Finland Student Visa

One of the best educational systems in the world is known to exist in Finland. Nearly half of its people have a higher education. And that should come as no surprise given the wide range of study options available and the fact that both EU students and residents are exempt from paying tuition there. Due to Finland's equal opportunity principle, even for international students, the tuition charge is quite reasonable and third-country nationals can benefit from the same rights as any other student. But in order to study in Finland, you'll probably require a student visa if you're from a third country.

Process Student Visa Finland

  • Finding a university in Finland that fits your study programme is the first step you should take as a prospective student there. Apply to the university as soon as you have a specific school in mind. You won't get a student visa if you're rejected. There must be documentation of enrollment.
  • You can submit an application for a student visa as soon as you receive your acceptance letter. You actually need a residence permit in this situation because you are attending school. Making a user account here is the first step in the permit application procedure. After creating an account, go to the e-service and choose the application for a "residence permit on the grounds of a study programme." Complete the online application with the necessary information, then submit it. The relevant documents (listed above) must be scanned and attached to your application. In the unlikely event that you are unable to complete an online application, you may visit your local embassy or consulate and submit a paper application there.
  • After submitting your application electronically, you must visit the embassy to provide identification and provide your fingerprints. All of the paperwork that you submitted online should be with you. The application cost must also be paid at the embassy or consulate. Similar to online applications, in-person applications need you to provide your fingerprints and pay a fee. Also, you can be requested to participate in an interview. The purpose of the interview is to learn more about your personality and the reasons you desire to study in Finland.
  • You must be patient while waiting for a response after submitting your application. Applications from students are given high attention by the Finnish Immigration Office, who will complete the processing as quickly as feasible. The length of time will vary, especially if there are any gaps in your application and the embassy contacts you to provide the information, but generally speaking, it takes 1 to 3 months to assess an application. As soon as the Finnish Immigration Office approves your application, they will send your residency card to the embassy, where you can pick it up and fly to Finland.
  • You will learn the outcome of your visa application after it has been processed. You can travel to Finland once your application for a student visa is complete. Your temporary status as an international student can be registered with a local immigration office as soon as you arrive in Finland.
