Latvia is a member of the European Union and has a visa-free regime with most of the bloc's Schengen members. However, nationals of some countries, including America, Canada, Israel and South Africa, are not permitted to travel to Latvia visa-free.
To obtain a visa for Latvia, applicants must provide valid identification documents (such as a passport or driver's license) as well as proof of financial support (such as an airticket or hotel reservation). Applicants must also have a return ticket or evidence that they will be staying in Latvia for no more than 90 days. There is no visa fee for citizens of EU nations.
