A Malta visa is required for citizens of most countries to travel to Malta. A few other exceptions may exist, so please consult the Embassy or Consulate of Malta in your country of residence for more information.
Which documents are needed to apply for a Malta visa? To apply for a Malta visa, you will need to provide the following documents:
-A passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the desired stay in Malta
-A valid visa application form (available from the Embassy or Consulate of Malta)
-Two recent passport-size photos
-The fee payable by Visa Electronic System (VES) account holders (Malta visas are not issued through the traditional embassy or consulate application process)

When planning a trip to Malta, it's important to know the visa requirements. Here are the number of days you need to apply for a visa before traveling:
-For U.S. citizens, your visa will be valid for 60 days from your entry into Malta.
-For citizens of most other countries, your visa will be valid for 30 days from your entry into Malta.
-You must apply for a visa in advance if you plan on staying more than 90 days in Malta.
-There is no fee for applying for a tourist visa, but a fee (€60) for applying for a business or residence visa.

If you are a citizen of a country participating in the EU's visa-free scheme, your visa application will be processed as normal. However, if you are not a citizen of an EU country or your citizenship is not recognized by Malta, you will need to apply for a visa.
The following visas are available to nationals of countries that participate in the EU's visa-free scheme: -The Schengen visa allows visitors to travel to any 27 European Union member states without obtaining a separate visa.
-The UK EEA (European Economic Area) visa allows citizens of Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway to visit the UK without needing a separate visa.
-The Swiss C permit allows Swiss citizens and residents to stay for up to 90 days in any 180 days.
Nationals of countries that do not participate in the EU's visa-free scheme can still visit Malta on tourist visas which must be applied for prior to arrival in Malta. These visas include A valid passport from a country participating in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP).
-A valid passport from a country that is part of the Commonwealth or has an agreement with Malta allowing unrestricted travel for its citizens. -A valid ETIAS (Electronic Travel Authorization) issued by DHS (Department of Homeland Security) if traveling as part of a group of five or more people, all traveling on one ticket bearing proof of onward travel

If you are an eligible applicant and could print your Thai Visa at home, yes, it is necessary. The Thai Embassy will not give you a physical passport with a stamp on it. All visas issued by the Thai Embassy come in digital form, which will be sent to your email address. You can also save the e-visa as a PDF file and print it out for future reference.
