If you plan a trip to Norway, you'll need a passport and a valid visa.
Passport requirements
To visit Norway as a tourist, your passport must be valid for at least six months after your planned departure from Norway. If you are traveling for business, your passport must be valid for at least one year after your planned departure from Norway.
Visa requirements
You may need a visa if you're visiting Norway for reasons other than tourism (for example, if you're coming to study or work). Requirements for visas vary depending on your nationality; check with the Norwegian embassy or consulate in your country of residence.
If you're applying for a visa online, you'll need to complete the online Visa Application Form (Norsk Visasøknad). If you're applying by mail, include the following:
Your passport photo
A recent color photograph (2-by-2 inches) that shows both sides of your head facing forward
Two completed visa application forms (Norsk Visasøknad 1 and Norsk Visasøknad 2) ($40 fee)
Your roundtrip airfare tickets or proof of funds sufficient to cover the costs of your stay in Norway ($120 fee)
An application form (visafotokopi) is to be filled out by the embassy or consulate in your home country ($5 fee). The application form (visafotokopi) can be downloaded from the Norwegian embassy website.
Once you've filled out your visa application form and submitted it to the embassy or consulate, you'll need to provide a copy of your passport photo and the two completed visa application forms. You should also bring your roundtrip airfare tickets or proof of funds sufficient to cover the costs of your stay in Norway.
