Norway Visa Eligibility

  • Norway is a Schengen visa-free country for citizens of most countries. Generally, you must present a valid passport from your home country and proof of sufficient funds (around NOK 3,000 per person per month) to cover your stay in Norway. If you are coming to Norway as part of a tourist trip, you do not need a visa if all the following apply: You are not staying in any business or employment locations
  • You are not studying in Norway
  • You are not staying more than 90 days in total during the validity of your passport. The following requirements must be met if you want to stay longer in Norway: You must register with the police within three months of arriving in Norway. Failure to do so can result in a fine or imprisonment.
  • You must have a valid health insurance policy that covers hospitalization and medical expenses. Health insurance is mandatory for all residents in Norway. Proof of health insurance coverage must be presented when registering with the police.
  • You must have enough money left over each month after covering your living costs (around NOK 5,000 per person). This amount is called a "financial reserve." If you fail to comply with any of these requirements, your stay in Norway will be restricted or even terminated. For example, if you do not have health insurance and get sick while in Norway, you may be required to leave the country immediately.
