If you plan to visit Switzerland for any purpose, you will need a visa. The visa requirements for different types of visits vary, so please consult the Swiss embassy or consulate in your country of residence for specific information.
To apply for a Swiss visa, first, check if you need a visa at all. If you are a national of an EU/EEA country and your stay is no longer than 90 days, you do not need a visa. For all other nationalities, please consult the list of requirements below:
Passport with at least six months remaining validity
A valid travel document (such as a passport) to show that you have funds available and that you are not on a government watchlist
Proof of health insurance coverage for at least 60 days during your stay in Switzerland (either an international health insurance card or proof of having private health insurance)
Evidence that you have sufficient funds to cover your expenses while in Switzerland (a recent bank statement with at least 20 Swiss francs attached or money transfer receipt from a Swiss bank)
Fee payment: The applicant pays a CHF60 fee by credit card when applying online (CHF60 by postal mail). The fee cannot be paid by credit card when applying in person. There is no fee for children under 18 years old accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.
Please note: Applicants who hold diplomatic passports are exempt from paying the visa fee.
