There are three types of Transit visa issued by the government of United Kingdom

  • Direct Airside Transit Visa (DATV) You may require a Direct Airside Transit Visa if you will be changing flights in the UK without passing through immigration control and you are not from the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland.

Documents Required to apply for Direct airside transit visa are mentioned below

  • Valid passport/travel document
  • Proof that you are allowed to enter the country which you plan to enter by providing either a:
  • Residence permit
  • Green card
  • Valid visa
  • Proof of providing journey bookings like a flight booking email, printed travelling tickets or confirmation from travel agency
  • if you are not a national or resident of the country that you are travelling to, you must:
  • Provide proof of why you are travelling there
  • Provide details of where you will stay.
  • Visitor in Transit Visa If you meet the criteria for a Visitor in Transit visa.
  • You will pass through UK border control if you are changing flights in the UK on your way to another country for reasons like checking your bags or taking a connecting flight.
  • In 48 hours you will depart the United Kingdom.
  • You won't be attending school or working there.

  • Proof that you are authorised to visit the nation you intend to enter by presenting either a current passport or valid travel document
  • Permit to Reside
  • Blue card

  • Proof of a subsequent flight, which must leave the UK within 48 hours, is required. For instance, a flight reservation, email-printed tickets, or a travel agent's confirmation.
  • If you are not a citizen or resident of the destination nation, you must:
  • Know your justifications for going there.
  • Tell us where you plan to stay in detail.

Long Term Visit Visa A long-term visit visa allows you to enter the UK for up to 48 hours per visit and has a two, five, or ten-year validity period if you need to transit through the country for a longer period of time.

Documents required to apply for Long term visit visa are as follow:

  • evidence that you have a good reason to visit the UK frequently for transit.
  • Evidence that your intention to travel through the UK for that reason will not change while you are there.
  • Evidence proving you'll depart the UK in the next 48 hours.

Eligibility- United Kingdom Transit visa

Applicants must meet the following requirements for a UK tourist visa:

  • You must provide documentation showing that you returned on the agreed-upon date.
  • Show that you have the means to cover your costs in the UK.
  • Provide evidence that the activities you plan to engage in while in the UK (whether business-related or otherwise) fall within the scope of those authorised.
  • The visa applicant must show that they have a genuine and long-term need to visit the United Kingdom and that this need will not change throughout the visa's validity.
  • If you need a visa to visit the United Kingdom for medical care, you'll need proof that you have booked your appointments, secured the necessary funds, and have plans to depart the country after your treatment.
