How to apply for a Uruguay visa

    To get a visa for Uruguay:

  • You must follow a number of steps in order to apply for a visa to Uruguay. Once you have all the necessary documentation, schedule an appointment with the Uruguayan authorities' embassy, consulate, or visa centre in your country of residency or the location that is most convenient for you.
  • The papers can be delivered by courier before to your meeting, or you can bring them with you on the scheduled day. You must apply for a business visa for Uruguay if you intend to visit for the sole purpose of conducting business, making an investment, or engaging in trade with Uruguayan firms. The visa is valid for 90 days and allows for multiple entries.
  • You must apply for a Uruguay tourist visa if you intend to visit Uruguay for tourism, vacation, or other leisure-related activities. The 90-day visa has several entry privileges. If you want to work for a living in Uruguay, you can apply for an employment visa. In order to apply, you must be at least 18 years old. The duration of this single-entry visa is 30 days. You must enter Uruguay during this time frame in order to submit your residence application before your visa expires.
  • You must apply for a student visa if you want to study or perform an internship in Uruguay. This 30-day visa can only be used once. Within these 30 days, you must enter Uruguay and apply for a resident permit.
  • If the individual is your parent, spouse, minor child, or older child with a handicap, you can apply to join them in Uruguay. You must apply for and get your Uruguayan resident permit during the 30-day validity period of the single-entry visa. You can apply for a Humanitarian and Emergency Visa, which is single entry and only good for 30 days, if you need to travel to Uruguay for a variety of reasons, such as receiving medical treatment, providing support at a court hearing, or dealing with the death or health of a family member or friend.
  • You must present additional documentation to justify your reason for visiting Uruguay in addition to the usual paperwork.
